Key achievement to date: The first national tobacco control mass media campaign was launched in February 2011 by the Ministry of Health of Bulgaria to support a new smoke-free law that limits smoking in public places including bars, cafes and restaurants, an important step in the achievement of a smoke-free country
The campaign uses “Smoke Free Works” (Pub) ad that was originally developed in Ireland. The ad explains the harms smoking causes to people who must work around tobacco.
Major accomplishments to
date:
- Amendment to smoke-free law that limits smoking in public places including bars, cafes and restaurants.
- The campaign aired on the three largest national TV and national radio through February and March and all spring on regional TV and radio channels.
- Campaign resonated with the press
- MoH plans to sustain the campaign with fall 2011 campaign
